We have reached the end of our tour. Here, you will see a sign saying ‘It’s time to turn about’.

For Basque, the time has come to ‘turn about’, to change direction. It’s time to be positive, to face the future with hope and enthusiasm.

Basque is an ancient language. But it is also a young language, an exciting language that is constantly under construction.

On the map of the world’s languages, Basque is not small: there are over one million Basque speakers!

We have shown the world that, with effort, creativity, generosity, love, serenity, and empathy, our language can regain its strength and stay alive.

We have to continue improving, we have to use the language more and teach it to others. But we also have a lot to celebrate. Because the future of Basque is not set in stone. It depends on each and every one of us.

Before you leave this area, look at the wall. Written on it is a song about the need to spread Basque that was written by Bernat Etxepare many years ago:

‘Euskara, jalgi hadi plazara’,
‘Basque, go out into the square!’

These words are as true now as they were then.
