In 2025, Euskararen Etxea received a very important accolade:

The European Museum of the Year Award.

The Council of Europe bestows this award in recognition of the work museums do to help people understand Europe’s cultural heritage and to promote human rights and the different languages of the world.

With this award, the Council of Europe recognised Euskararen Etxea as ‘a big-little museum’.
A centre that organises activities for people of different ages to encourage them to speak and transmit Basque.
And which does so by collaborating with many different individuals and entities.

The award also recognised the centre as a space in which different identities and languages coexist.

The distinction was awarded on 7 April 2025 in the city of Strasbourg, France, at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The director of Euskararen Etxea received the award, alongside representatives of the Bizkaia Provincial Council.

You are therefore about to visit a European museum that has received a very important award.
