Welcome to the House of the Basque Language!
Today we are going to tour the Basque Language Interpretation Centre together.
At this centre, our aim is to promote and disseminate the Basque language.
We also showcase the diversity and vigour of our language and the different ways people speak and live their lives in Basque.

The centre also contains spaces dedicated to individuals and entities working in favour of the Basque language.
The centre provides these individuals with spaces in which to work, share ideas and, above all, speak in Basque.

The building is located in the San Ignacio neighbourhood and was built in the 1950s.

The exhibition you are about to visit was renewed in 2023 and is located on the ground floor and the first floor of the building.

The exhibition on Basque is entertaining and can be enjoyed with senses.
You will be able to see, hear, touch…
We adopt a positive view of Basque that looks to the future.
People are also at the heart of the exhibition.

In his poem ‘A way of looking at the world’, the Basque writer Kirmen Uribe says the following about Basque:
Basque is not just a language, It is a way of living, a way of feeling…
A way of looking at the world.
And that way of looking at the world can be adopted by everyone.

Before starting the visit, we invite you to go to the waiting room next to the lift.
The room contains some models with QR codes of the different activities organised at the centre.
