At the Community Hood you will discover the more sociable side of the Basque language. How it is spoken at festivals, for example. Or in cultural projects or social events.

Culture is the beating heart of our people, and here, you can see and feel it.Basque is still alive today because Basque society has worked hard and set in motion a myriad of different projects.

You are going to hear and see clips from different events that aim to promote the Basque language, including:

 
● The 1978 Bai Euskarari festival.
● Korrika, a race that goes around the entire Basque Country to foster greater Basque use.
● The Durangoko Azoka, or Durango Fair, an important meeting place for Basque culture enthusiasts. The fair features a wide range of books, music, audiovisual works and theatre, among other things.
● The Bertsolari Txapelketak, improvised Basque verse singing championships.

You will also hear many voices and expressions by well-known figures, along with one of the first times football was broadcast in Basque on television, back in the 1980s.

The posters and stickers inside the hood are from the Lazkaoko Beneditarren Fundazioa archive. This archive contains material dating from the present day all the way back to 1975.
