We are now on the first floor, in the ‘Mirror Room’.

This room aims to teach you what it means to be an euskaldun.
The word euskaldun literally translates as ‘a person who has Basque’.

This can mean many things.
For example, a Basque translator in Tokyo is as euskaldun as a farmer from Ataun.

Because to be an euskaldun, all you need is the desire to be one.
Because Basque unites people, identities and cultures.

As you will see in these mirrors, the number of people and their images grows, like just a language does when we share it.

On your left you will find a column with a whole load of words.
If you look at the mirrors, you will see that the column of words extends upwards to the ceiling, and downwards to the floor.
Consequently, when we look at this column, it seems infinite, endless.

Scattered around the room you will also see three hoods.
Each hood focuses on a theme or issue that is important for Basque.
Later on you can, if you wish, listen to an audio recording about these hoods.

You can start wherever you want.
