The Transmission Hood focuses on how Basque is passed on from person to person.<\/p>

Our first contact with our language occurs at home and at school. Look at the old and modern photos on this theme.<\/p>

Touch the screen to listen to the lullaby Haurtxo Polita. It is sung by Basque soprano Jone Mart\u00ednez. While you listen to the lullaby, you will see pictures of different family environments.<\/p>

And afterwards, you will hear teachers talking about how they taught Basque at school and what kind of material they used.<\/p>

You will learn about the old \u2018ikastolas\u2019, the first Basque-medium schools. These schools were set up clandestinely in the 1960s, when Basque was prohibited by law.<\/p>

Thanks to the work carried out by these teachers, our language continued to be spoken and passed on to younger generations.
